SCERT has issued a notification regarding the NMMS/PSTSE combined exam to be conducted for year 2024 in the month of February.

All the schools which are government,affiliated and private schools which have affiliation are eligible to apply for this exam.

About the Exam NMMS/PSTSE Exam 2024

NMMS stands for  National Means cum Merit Scholarship Exam.

PSTSE stands for Punjab State Talent Search Examination.

These both exams are for 8th standard students.NMMS is a Centre Scheme and PSTSE is state scheme.This exam is to find the sharp and brilliant minds of our schools who after clearing this exam get schorlarships.

Benefits of NMMS /PSTSE COMBINED EXAM

  • Scholarship: 12,000 INR per annum from Class 9 to Class 12.

Paper Pattern for NMMS /PSTSE COMBINED EXAM

  • Conducted by individual states/UTs.
  • Two levels: State Level Test (SLT) and Second Level Test (SLT).
  • State Level Test (SLT):
    • Two papers: Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).
    • 90 minutes each, 90 MCQs each.
    • Minimum qualifying marks: 40% (32% for SC/ST) for aggregate of MAT & SAT.
  • Second Level Test (SLT):
    • Conducted only if shortlisted from SLT.
    • Similar format to SLT.

Syllabus for NMMS /PSTSE COMBINED EXAM

  • Mental Ability Test (MAT): Reasoning, critical thinking, problem-solving.
    • Topics: Analogy, classification, coding-decoding, syllogism, odd one out, pattern perception, spatial reasoning.
  • Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT): Science, Social Studies, Mathematics from Class 7 & 8 syllabus.

Preparation Strategy for NMMS /PSTSE COMBINED EXAM

  • Start preparing  early at least 6 months before the exam.
  • Understand the paper  syllabus and paper pattern
  • Practice with previous year papers and sample papers:
  • Regularly solve mock tests and sample papers
