All You Need to Know About the July Exam

The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is a national-level teacher eligibility exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) twice a year. This exam determines the eligibility of aspiring teachers to teach at government schools from Class 1 to Class 8.

    • Paper 2 (Classes 6-8): 9:30 AM to 12:00 Noon

Exam Pattern

The CTET exam consists of two papers:

  • Paper 1: This paper is designed for candidates who wish to teach classes 1 to 5. It covers topics like Child Development and Pedagogy, Language 1 (Hindi/English), Language 2 (chosen from a list of languages), Mathematics, and Environmental Studies.
  • Paper 2: This paper is meant for candidates interested in teaching classes 6 to 8. It is further divided into five sections based on the chosen subjects. Candidates can choose any two subjects from the following list:
    • Mathematics
    • Science
    • Social Science
    • Sanskrit
    • Hindi
    • English
    • Urdu
    • Punjabi
    • Assamese
    • Bengali

    • Kannada

Each paper has 150 questions, with a total of 150 marks. The question format is multiple-choice.

To be eligible for the CTET exam, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must possess a Teacher’s Training qualification like Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) or its equivalent recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).
  • Age Limit: There is no upper age limit for appearing in the CTET exam.

The application process for CTET is online. You can register and apply on the official CTET website (https://ctet.nic.in/). Here’s a breakdown of the steps involved:

  1. Registration: Create a new account on the CTET website or log in using your existing credentials.

The application fee for the CTET exam varies depending on the category of the candidate:

  • General & OBC (Single Paper): ₹1000
  • General & OBC (Both Papers): ₹1200
  • SC/ST/PWD (Single Paper): ₹550
  • SC/ST/PWD (Both Papers): ₹600
